a gift
It is in silence that Wulf's Valet hands over the perfectly wrapped parcel. The edges of white paper are crisp painstaking 45 degree angles and the knot is very tidy. There is a note with it. The handwriting is small, regimented, precise, with no flourishes. It's the same writing Phil might remember from a carriage window.]
Sir,
Every wizard has his spell book. This is yours. May it prove useful to you. Along with it, some materials for writing. My home for the moment is in the Academic Quarter, should you wish to pursue lessons.

[Inside the package is a simple leather bound spell book. It is empty except for the very first page, where he has already written the Message Spell. There is also some truly grossly expensive ink and of all things, a raven's feather for a quill.]

Thank you for the generous gift. I've fit the feather with a quill tip and I'm practicing coping the spell onto other pieces of paper. When I was in school and needed to memorize something like a list of dates or the names of kings I would write them over and over until they were stuck in my head. I'm hoping this helps with my attempts to learn magic.
I would love to arraign a time for lessons. My schedule is that of a man of leisure which means please pick a time and place and I will be there. I'm bad at inactivity.
I would like to repay your kindness as well. Please let me know if there's any favorite food you like as I drive my retainer insane with how often I'm in the kitchen making things.
And I'm curious about the Matron you've mentioned.
Yours Truly,
Phillip J. Coulson

This is a good way to start, yes. I am available to give lessons at any time most convenient for you. I live in the Academic Quarter in 547. The small loft apartment next to the library there. If I am not available, leave a message with the man who delivered this and he will see I get it.
I thank you for your offer. I do not have favorites. I would be grateful for whatever was brought. We can discuss magic or the Matron or whatever topics you wish. I will try to find coffee for such a visit.

Call me Phil.
How do Thursday evenings work for you? We could meet once a week. Or every other week depending on your schedule. As I've said, mine is completely free at the moment. And I don't see learning magic as a quick process.
I'll make something from my home world then. It only seems fair when you're sharing so much of yours. If you have any good allergies let me know and I'll make sure to work around them. If you don't have coffee, I will bring some. I have plenty of coffee.
Yours truly,
Phil

Mr Coulson SirPhil,If you insist. But if that is the case, then I believe you should call me Eadwulf.
Thursdays will work for me. I have yet to have a proper schedule as I have yet to find gainful employment. It is not. Traditionally, it takes years to learn and we are always learning new spells to add to our books. We have academies just to learn the foundations and principles. But I think you need not be faced with the rigors of the Soltryce. Once a week would be good for a start, to give you time between without too much elapsing.
I have no allergies. And I would very much like some coffee. I've yet to track any down. So I will be expecting you Thursday. I will spend the time between now and then finding a few components for you to make you a proper pouch to go with your new book.
The Matron guide your journey.
